BDSM is a form play among sexual partners which can be an erotic preference, expressing sexual feelings using the consensual use of restraint, intense sensory stimulation and role playing. The B&D of BDSM refers to the terms Bondage and discipline, D&S means Dominance and Submission and S&M means sadism and masochism.
As the activities of BDSM bondage are violent, there are confusions and debates on its legality. The legitimacy of BDSM bondage differs from nation to nation. The practice of BDSM is preferred as a criminal act in many countries as it may include torturing, hand-cuffing or giving pain to the bottom in the act. There is age restriction also which also differs from country to country.
In some countries like Germany, Netherlands, Japan, and Scandinavia, this act is considered legal in principle. The legal status of BDSM is not clear in some countries, example: Austria. Here, it hangs between legal and illegal. In Switzerland, some BDSM actions are known as criminal to perform. In Germany, it’s not a crime if it was committed with the mutual consent of the partners.
There are codes of conduct for BDSM performance among which, RACK (Risk Aware Consensual Kink) and SSC (Safe, Sane and Consensual) are mostly known.
